Dear Parent/Guardians:
Through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) funds are allocated to state school districts in accordance with poverty, ELL populations, and for teacher professional development. Under this program, Trailside Elementary School is identified as a Title I Assistance Schools for mathematics. Funds, in addition to school district funds, are provided to Trailside to allow for an increase of servicing students to insure success in mathematics and/or reading.
Students are identified using the NWEA Map testing, PALS state testing, WKCE/Smarter Balance state testing and additional historical reviews of student developmental growth patterns. Programs designed for Intervention are focused on decreasing the gaps in student’s mathematical skills to then allow for the student to build both confidence and skills in the universal classroom instruction. For some students intervention time is just a few months while others may need support for a year or more.
The additional funding at Trailside has allowed for additional support staff to assist with implementing increased use of a self-paced math program called iLearn for grades K-6.
As part of the additional programming and support funding through Title One, students, parents and teachers are asked to be official partners in their child’s education by signing an official learning contract. I will monitor your child’s learning via the online program reports and through progress monitoring of the students weekly, to determine if these programs are meeting your child’s needs. In order to achieve success as quick as possible students need to be working at school and at home on these unique programs.
Please spend time talking about the learning contract and how learning to understand math is important to your child and his/her future education and career success.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via the e-mail and/or phone number listed below. It is our goal at Trailside, to ensure that every intervention student is decreasing the gap between his/her learning level and proficiency at the grade level so that he/she can make their dreams come true.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Lindner
